Jennifer Lopez
Born: 24 July 1970
Birthplace: New York, New York
Best Known As: The much-married star of Selena and Maid in Manhattan
Jennifer Lopez was a dancer (or "fly girl") on TV's comedy sketch show In Living Color before landing the title role in a 1997 biopic of the singer Selena. Appearances in the films Blood and Wine (with Jack Nicholson, 1997) and Out of Sight (with George Clooney, 1998) made her a bona fide movie star and the highest-paid Latin actress in Hollywood. In 2000 she appeared in a famously skimpy peacock-colored dress at the music industry's Grammy Awards, and began a much-discussed romance with rapper P. Diddy (aka "Puffy" Combs). Lopez also launched a music career with the albums On the Six (1999) and J.Lo (2001), but she has generally had more success in the movies and as a regular in the gossip sheets. Her engagement to actor Ben Affleck in 2002 resulted in the of-the-moment combined moniker "Bennifer." The pair never married, and ended their relationship in January 2004. A few months later, on 5 June 2004, Lopez married singer Marc Anthony. Her movies include Anaconda (1997, with Ice Cube); the animated feature Antz (1998, with the voice of Woody Allen); The Wedding Planner (2001); Angel Eyes (2001, co-starring Jim Caviezel); Maid in Manhattan (2002); and Gigli (2003, co-starring Affleck).
Lopez's popular nickname is "J. Lo"... Her marriage to Marc Anthony is her third: she was married to waiter Ojani Noa from 1997-98 and to dancer Cris Judd from 2001-02.
