Annie Lennox

Born on Christmas Day in 1954 Ann Lennox is a Scottish born philanthropist, political activist and singer. She also writes her own songs. She sang with the new wave band The Tourists in the 1970s and she moved on to realize success as Eurythmics with David A. Stewart. Lennox has won a total of eight Brit awards.
Lennox raised music for HIV charities in Africa. She was appointed as an Officer in the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth for her charity work and humanitarian causes. Lennox performed at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Concert in 2012.
Annie Lennox has been labeled as the "highest white soul singer alive" by VH1 and one of the 100 best singers of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine. She is the most successful female British artist in UK music history and has sold over 80 million records.
Lennox is credited with Sweet Dreams Are Made of This, Love is a Stranger, Here Comes the Rain Again, Would I Lie to You and There Must be an Angel. Her single career includes an MTVAward for Best Female Video (1992), songs for Whitney Houston's The Preacher's Wife (Step by Step) and Love Song for a Vampire written for the movie Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992).
In 2010 Lennox signed a contract with Island Records and Decca Records and released a Christmas album A Christmas Cornucopia. She has also performed at the 2012 Summer Olympic Closing Ceremony and is still appearing on stage. Lennox has married three times. Once from 1985 5o 1985 to Radha Raman, from 1988 to 2000 to Uri Fruchtmann and in 2012 to Dr. Mitch Besser. She has two daughters from her marriage to Uri Fruchtmann. She is a vegetarian, supporter of animal rights, and is active in political action for gay rights.
