Born on April 3, 1958, Alexander Rae Baldwin III grew up in Long Island, New York. Alec and his brothers are all actors, but Alec is the most well-known. In the 1980s Baldwin had appearances in The Doctors and Knots Landing before he was cast in Forever, Lulu in 1987, BeetleJuice in 1988, Working Girl 1988 and Married to the Mob in 1988. Baldwin starred in the first film that featured Jack Ryan in The Hunt for Red October. Instead of working on the Jack Ryan series, Baldwin performed A Streetcar Named Desire on Broadway. He won a Tony nomination. Critics loved him in Miami Blues in 1990 and he met Kim Basinger while they were filming The Marrying Man in 1991. He was a ten-minute star in Glengarry Glen Ross in 1992 and in the thriller Malice in 1993. Baldwin played in The Getaway in1994, The Shadow in 1994 and Ghosts of Mississippi in 1996. He lent his voice to animated shows including Cats & Dogs in 2001 and The SpongeBob Square Pants Movie in 2004. Although Baldwin was embroiled in a nasty divorce from Kim Basinger his acting career took off in The Aviator in 2005, The Cooler in 2003 (he received an Academy Award nomination), The Departed in 2006. He turned to television and played in 30 Rock in 2006. He won two Emmy Awards, six Screen Actors Guild Awards and three Golden Globes. Baldwin was scheduled to host a talk show in2013, but he utter a gay slur during a confrontation with photographers and his show was cancelled. Baldwin was married to Kim Basinger from 1993 to 2002 and they have one child. He then married Hilaria Thomas and they have one child.
