Luigina Lollobrigida arrived on July 4, 1927 in Lazio Italy. She has been known as the Mona Lisa of the Twentieth Century and also as Gina. She is often referred to as the most beautiful woman in the world. As a young girl Gina did modeling and moved on to beauty contests. In 1947 she entered a competition for Miss Italy and came in third.
Lollobrigida appeared in films in Italy until Howard Hughes flew her to Hollywood. She did not stay in America but returned to Italy. Her Hollywood debut movie was Beat the Devil in 1953. She married Miklo Skofic and had one son. Gina and Milko were married for 22 years. Her signature movie Beautiful But Dangerous in 1955 set off her career. Come September co-starring with Rock Hudson in 1961 won the Golden Globe.
In the 1970s Gina took up photography and a collection of her photographs Italia Mia was published in 1973. She did not play for American audiences until 1981 when she was cast on Falcon Crest. She made a few films and turned to politics in 1999. She ran for a Parliament seat in Italy but lost. Gina turned her talents to fashion and cosmetics, sculpting and photography.
In addition to her marriage to Skofic, Gina was married to Javier Rigau y Rafols from 2010 to the present. They are currently separated.
