Born Alejandro Sanchez Pizarro on December 18, 1968 this Spanish singer and songwriter has won 3 Grammy Awards and15 Latin Grammy Awards. Sanz earned the Latin Grammy album of the year 3 times. Si Tu Me Miras in 1993 and 3 in 1995 fared okay on a commercial basis but his 1997 record album Mas generated global recognition. El Alma al Aire in 2000 sold over a million discs during its first week. Sanz recorded an MTV Unplugged album in 2002 which marked him as the first Spanish artist to record such an album. He collaborated with Shakira on La Tortua which reached number one on worldwide charts.
He tried different sounds on Ne Es lo Mismo in 2003 and El Tren de los Momentos in 2006. He produced his ninth studio album La Musica No Se Toca in 2012.
Sanz was married to Jaydy Michel on December 30, 1999 but the marriage was not legally recognized. They separated in 2005 with one daughter. Sanz had a son Alexander with a Puerto Rican fashion designer, Valeria Rivera and his third child Dylan was during a relationship with Raquel Perera. Sanz and Perera married in 2012.
