Carrie Fisher

Carrie Frances Fisher was born October 21, 1956 in Beverly Hills, California. She is the actress who played princes Leia Organa in the Star Wars films and is also an accomplished writer. She generally plays smirking and sarcastic characters and has a deep husky voice. Carrie is the daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher. When Carrie was only three, Eddie Fisher left the family to marry Elizabeth Taylor.
Fisher made her stage debut in the chorus line of Irene in 1975. The play starred Debbie Reynolds her mother. Fisher attended the Central School of Speech and Drama and started her career in film after graduation.
She appeared in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back in 2001 with Mark Hamill. She has also written movie scripts and rewritten those scripts that would not work. In her scenes with Harrison Ford in the original Star Wars films Fisher stood on a box. She was a foot shorter than Ford and did not fit into the frame.
Fisher has written several novels including Postcards from the Edge which became a film in 1990. Fisher wrote her memoirs Wishful Drinking and outlined her romantic relationship with Senator Chris Dodd. She was married to Paul Simon from August 1983 until 1984. They divorced but continued seeing each other for eight years after their divorce. Fisher has a daughter born in 1992.
