Born October 18, 1926, Klaus Gunther Nakszynski is a German actor. He has appeared in more than 130 films and is the leading actor in The Wrath of God (1972) Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979) Woyzeck (1979), and Cobra Verde (1987). Kinski is a controversial figure in the German art world and his violent outbursts on the set are famous. Kinski was conscripted into the German army in 1943 and subsequently captured by the British in the Netherlands in 1944 and transported to a prison camp in Berechurch Hall in Colchester, Essex. He played roles on stage to maintain moral among the prisons and at the end of the war was returned to Germany. He started work as an actor at a small touring company in Offenburg. He used his new name of Klaus Kinski and was hired by the Scholosspark-Theater. He was fired due to unpredictable behavior. In 1956 Kinski made a guest appearance at Vienna?Äôs Buirghterater in Goethe?Äôs Torgquato Tasso. He was not permanently hired and toured as an actor. Kinski had bit parts in American films Before Dawn (1951) and A Time to Love and a Time to Die (1958). He starred as an evil killer from the futuristic picture Timestalkers (1987) and his last film was Kinski Paganini (1989). He wrote My Best Fiend in 1999 which was fabricated and highly insulting. Kinski was married three times and had three children. Kinski died November 23, 1991 of a heart attack in California. His ashes were scattered into the Pacific Ocean. His daughters refused to attend his funeral.
