Harrison Ford

Born July 13, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, Harrison Ford is an American actor who is best known for his performance in Star Wars and Indian Jones. He dropped out of Ripon College in Wisconsin where he did summer stock acting and signed a contract with Columbia and Universal. He played in Ironsides in 1967, the Virginian in 1962 but found these parts discouraging. He started a career in professional carpentry.
Four years later Harrison Ford played Bob Falfa in American Graffiti (1973). Four years after that part he made it big with the role of Han Solo in Star Wars: Episode IV ?€“ A New Hope in 1977 and as Indian Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981. Ford received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for his portrayals in Witness (1985). Four years after that role he placed against as Indian Jones in two sequels. He was also Jack Ryan in Patriot Games in 1992 and Dr. Richard Kimble in The Fugitive in 1993. He was the star in Air Force One (1997) and is listed in the 2001 Guinness Book of Records as the richest actor in Hollywood.
Ford is a licensed pilot and lives on an 800 acre ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He was married to Mary Marquardt in 1964 and they have two children. He divorced Mary in 1979 and married Mellissa Mathison, a successful playwright in March 1983. They divorced in 2004 and have two children. He is currently married to Calista Flockhart and they have one child. He works for environmental concerns and named a new breed of butterfly after his daughter Georgia.
Ford is known for his quiet but charming personality and deep soothing voice. He is recognized for playing quick-witted heroes and often works with Steven Spielberg. In 1986 he played the lead in The Mosquito Coast and this is his favorite movie.
