Originally born as Charles Eugene Patrick Boone on June 1, 1934, Pat Boone is a songwriter, singer, author and actor. He took classes at David Lipscombe College at North Texas State College and Columbia University. He began his entertainment career when he hosted a Nashville, Tennessee teenage talent show. He won an Arthur Godfrey Talent Scouts Show as well as Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour first place. Boone?€™s first career recording came out in 1955 and in 1961 he affiliated with ASCAP. He has many top songs that include Speedy Gonzales, Bernadine and Moody River. Boone has also appeared in many films in the 1950s and 1960s. He is a board member of the Northeastern Institute for Christian Education. Boone is known for his devotion to his Christian faith, his white buck shoes and his country singing. He has often been criticized for his sanitizing and censoring of different artists?€™ songs to reflect Christian values. Boone?€™s recording of A Wonderful Time Up There in 1958 was his first million-selling record containing religious lyrics. Boone is a member the Gospel Hall of Fame and Christian Hall of Fame. When he is in films he will not kiss his co-star and his contract states he is not to be coerced into kissing. Boone has also written articles claiming that evolution is absurd, nonsensical and false. Among his awards are his Stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for recording and television. Boone has written and released Pray to Win: God Wants you to Succeed, Pat Boone Devotional Book, and Questions About God. He is still married to Shirley Boone (1953). They have four children.
