Born August 14, 1963 in Saint-Tropez, France Emmanuelle Beart wanted to be an actress from the age of 13 when she saw Romy Schneider in Mado. Her parents sent her to Montreal to learn English and while there she was tagged for a part in a Robert Altman move. She returned to France and took acting classes. Her first TV role was in Raison perdue in 1984 (France). She was then tapped for Premiers desirs in 1984 and while making L'amour en duc in 1985 met her husband. Her most famous film in France is Manon of the Spring in 1986. Her first Hollywood film was Date with an Angel in 1987.
Beart is an ambassador for UNICEF and the United Children's Fund and has been arrested for defending the rights of the black illegal immigrants. She had plastic surgery on her lips which she highly regrets. Beart was married to Daniel Auteuil in 1993 and they divorced in 1995. They have one child. She married Michael Cohen in 2008 and they are presently separated. You can see Beart in Mission: Impossible in 1996, Don Juan in 1997 and Time Regained in 1998. She is also in Vinya in 2008.
