Brooke Christa Shields was born May 31, 1965 in New York City. She began her acting career at the age of 12 in Pretty Baby (1978). It was highly controversial and risky and Brooke followed this movie with The Blue Lagoon in 1980.
Brooke has worked on Bob Hope Christmas specials, Suddenly Susan in 1996 and writing. She earned a degree from Princeton University and won the People's Choice award in 1981 for Favorite Young Performer. In 1997 she won the People's Choice award for Favorite Female Performer in a New Television Series.
After the birth of her daughter, she suffered depression and wrote Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression. She lives in New York City and is sought after for work in television, on stage and in movies. Brooke is noted for her dark and thick eyebrows and wholesome image.
Brooke started her career in a commercial for Ivory soap, modeled Calvin Klein Jeans and is the spokesperson for Nutra Systems diet meals. She has appeared on more than 300 magazine covers both domestically and internationally. She was the first winner of a worst actress RAZZIE award in 1980 and has won several more RAZZIES. In 2000 Brooke was listed as the Worst Actress of the Century.
Brooke was married to Andre Agassi from April 1997 to April 199. The marriage was annulled. She is currently married to Chris Henchy and has two children.
