Balefire
A traditional fire lit outdoors during Yule, Beltane, and Litha.

Beltane
A Wiccan sabbat held between spring and the onset of summer, between April 30th and May 1st. Beltane is also known as May Eve, Roodmas, Walpurgis Night and Cethsamhain. Beltane celebrates the symbolic union, matting or marriage of the Goddess and God, and links in with the approaching summer months.

Bell
Bells have been used by nearly all cultures throughout history as magickal talismans, fertility charms, summons to a deity, and as instrumrnts for sacred music. Many Wiccans use a consecrated bell as an altar tool to signal the beginning and/or close of a ritual.

Besom
Pronounced Bee-sum. A bundle of twigs attached to a handle used to cleanse and purify sacred space. Essentially a witch's broomstick.

Bolline
The working knife of a Witch used in rituals for carving and cutting magickal symbols into ritual objects. Traditionally, it can only be used in a Circle.

Book of Shadows
Traditionally hand copied book of rituals, recipes, training techniques, guidelines, and other materials deemed important to a Witch or a coven. Each Book of Shadows is different as the individual decides what is necessary for their book.

Broom Closet
Not meant literally, this is a term used to describe someone who is "in the broom closet", saying you are "in the broom closet" means that you are not open about your Pagan or Craft beliefs.

Burning Times
This is a word used to describe the execution of the witches during their persecution from the Middle Ages onwards. It is in fact a misnomer in some places, as Witches were only burned in Scotland, and on the continent of Europe. In England and the U.S., they were hanged.
