I interested in Palmistry

Hello everyone!
I got interested in Palmistry a few months ago, and have been reading up on this practice, using myself as a guinea pig, of course. There is a feature on my palm I was hoping to get a quick explanation for. Forgive me if I don't give a technical-enough description, as my knowledge is limited, but hopefully you can understand what I'm asking:

The premise:
OK - I understand that lines of affection/marriage appear just below the mount of mercury, and that the gender/number/health of children can be read between the line of affection closest to the mount of mercury, and the mount itself via vertical lines rising from the line and running towards mercury.

My info:
I have 2 clearly defined lines of affection.
I am not married (just so you know ) and without children, but I am in a long-term relationship. However, I can't speculate on which line to attribute this relationship.
The line of affection closest to the mount of mercury (base of pinky) has 2 clear vertical lines rising upward, that I understand to denote children.
However, this same line of affection/marriage also has two vertical lines dropping BELOW it, almost touching the line of affection below. These lines drop off at almost the same origination points as the lines above (which head towards mercury), so you can imagine the letter "H" on the uppermost line of affection...
FYI: Both lines of affection terminate in a 'clean' manner, i.e. with no breaks, forks, islands, etc.

The question:
What do the lower vertical lines mean, and expanding on that, if the occurence of children can be reliably read from one's palm, how can they be attributed to a relationship with one, or multiple, 'significant others'? As you can see, I have spent too much time speculating on possible meanings of these lines, and I would be grateful for any explanation.
