Astrological Definitions and their Meaning: Succedent, Sun, Symbol, Synastry, Synchronicity, Syzygy

Succedent
Succedent is the name given to the astrological houses that are thought less powerful than angular but with more power than cadent houses. The Succendent houses are the 2nd, 5th, 8th and 11th and they are associated with the fixed signs of the zodiac Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. The 2nd house highlights the likely possessions of a person while the 5th house usually concerns children. The 8th house in this Succendent group may indicate matters concerning death or events unfolding following someone's end of life, like an inheritance. The eleventh house is regarded as emphasizing hopes, desires and expectations.

Sun
The Sun is thought of as one of the most important and influential powers in all types of Astrology. It is referred to as 'sol' in Latin and the Greek's called it 'helios' and in astrological terms the Sun is regarded as a masculine and positive influence. An individual's star sign is their Sun sign as it is determined by the position of the Sun at the date and time of birth. The Sun rules over the zodiac sign of Leo and takes around a month to travel through all the signs. It is believed to reflect a person's basic personality and the ways they will express their individuality. The Sun also focuses on our goals, ambitions and personal destined path in life.

Symbol
The word Symbol is derived from the ancient Greek sumbolon roughly translated as sign. Today symbols are utilized by all cultures to represent things with significance in a simplified form. In Astrology the main planets, twelve zodiac signs, aspects, motions and many other features are identified by their symbolic representations. These assigned symbols are in glyph and pictorial format for their easy interpretation in horoscopes. Astrological symbols are used to symbolize the Ascendant, Midheaven, Descendant and the nodes of the Moon. New symbols are designed for newly discovered celestial bodies like asteroids Ceres and Chiron.

Synastry
Synastry is the name given for the form of Astrology that concentrates and analyzes personal relationships and compatibility. It is the astrological study of how 2 people interact with each other on all levels. Synastry charts are constructed by the comparison of two individual natal maps in the usual manner or by progressing them. By comparing both sets of planetary influences and other areas of significance an insight into the intricacies of a partnership can be gained. Synastry readings may help couples to identify the strengths and weaknesses in their interactivity with each other to better understand their relationship.

Synchronicity
Synchronicity of the planets in our Solar System is one of the main principles used in the interpretation of astrological charts. Although there is no direct proven causal relationship between a celestial bodies movement and its positioning and events on Earth, the concept of its synchronicity and meaning is still applied. Synchronicity is believed to go hand in hand with time and so 2 events occurring close together are seen as synchronized and having formed an alliance. The synchronization of the motion of planets and the zodiac signs and houses are the determining factors of your birth configuration layout.

Syzygy
Syzygy concerns the alignment of celestial bodies and is mainly referred to in Astronomy but it does have an astrological meaning. The word Syzygy originates from the Greek syzygos meaning 'yoked together' and the Latin syzygia thought to mean 'conjunction'. In Astrology it is used to describe the relationship between the Earth, the Sun and the Moon's connections and their resulting eclipses. In natal chart interpretation the term syzygy is mentioned in relation to any unusual planetary alignments. An example of this would be where all the planets in a person's birth chart fall on the same side of the Sun. All syzygy conjunctions are considered to have a powerful favorable influence.
