Patrick G. Duffy was born on March 17, 1949 in Townsend Montana. He wanted to be a professional athlete and was a certified scuba diver in his teens. He acted in his high school's drama department and enrolled at the Professional actors Training Program at the University of Washington, Seattle. He ruptured his vocal cords during his senior year of college but he was able to work as a translator for ballet, orchestra and opera companies in Washington. Duffy taught movement and mime classes at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Patrick and his wife Carlyn transferred to New York after a wedding in a Buddhist Temple in 1974. Patrick performed in Off-Broadway plays and worked as a carpenter to support his family. After a few years Patrick and Carlyn relocated to Hollywood where Duffy landed small roles in television productions.
Patrick landed the role of Mark Harris in the TV series Man from Atlantis in 1977. In 1979 he was offered the role of Bobby Ewing on Dallas. He worked as Frank Lambert on Step by Step in 1991 and continues to work in television. He can be seen in two Dallas reunion movies. Currently Duffy, his wife and two sons live in Los Angeles. The Duffy's also own a home in Oregon.
Patrick Duffy always played the good guys in his television roles. He still maintains his very muscular physique and resonant voice. He loves golf and can be seen playing in celebrity tournaments. Duffy's sons have played children in his Dallas productions.
