Ethan Hawke

Born on November 6, 1970 in Austin, Texas Ethan Green Hawke moved around the country until 1981 when his family settled in Princeton Junction, New Jersey. Hawke attended West Windsor-Plainsville High then transferred to the Hun School of Princeton. He took acting classes and continued his ambition to be a writer. His acting lessons and student productions led him to audition for Explorers (1985). He gained the part, but was not a commercial success.
Hawke joined students at Carnegie Mellon University to study theater, but he dropped out to work with Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society in 1989. He has since worked in theater where he won a Tony nomination for The Coast of Utopia, and in Gattaca in 1997 and Training Day in 2001.
Hawke has also written two books, one The Hottest State in 1996 that sold for $400,000. His second novel is Ash Wednesday. Currently Hawke is premiering Predestination during the 2014 SXSW Music, Film + Interactive Festival.
Hawke and Uma Thurman married in 1998 and divorced in 2004 with two children. He married Ryan Shawhughes-Hawke in 2008 and they have two children.
