David Richard Solberg (David Soul) was born on August 28, 1943 in Chicago Illinois. He was a pop icon best known as Detective Kenneth Hutchinson on Starsky and Hutch (1975). David Soul also had a successful singing career and recorded Silver Lady and Don?€™t Give Up on Us Baby. Soul?€™s father was a minister stationed as the religious affairs advisor for the U.S. High Commission in Berlin. However, at 24 Soul joined a North Dakota musical revue instead of being religious. He studied acting with the Irene Daly School of The Actors Company and the Columbia Workshop in Hollywood. He appeared in I Dream of Jeannie in 1965, Flipper in 1965 and All in the Family in 1971. Soul was cast as a corrupt motorcycle cop in Magnum Force in 1973 which lead to Starsky and Hutch in 1975. The series came to an end after four seasons and Soul went on to appear in Salem?€™s Lot in 1979 and Homeward Bound in 1980. He portrayed cop killer Michael Lee Platt in In the Line of Duty: The F.B.I. Murders in 1988. He toured with Ira Levin?€™s Deathtrap and did a cameo appearance in the movie version of Starsky & Hutch in 2004. Soul is a champion of social causes and uses his own funds to raise awareness on the impact of the Vietnam War, shutdowns in the steel industry, animal welfare and world hunger. He currently lives in the UK and is a keen soccer fan. Soul was married from 1964 to 1965 to Mariam Russell-Solberg (1 child), Karen Carlson from 1968 to 1977 (1 child), Patti Carnel Sherman from 1980 to 1986 (three children) and Julia Nickson (1 child).
