Everyone is expecting great chaos to come in 2020. In some ways they should: it's going to be a year of lots of dramatic changes. What's different for you, dear Aquarius, is that what other people will see as chaos, you'll see as business as usual. It's the universe's standard operating procedure and you're as cool as a cucumber about it. This is pretty typical for you, Aquarius. You're going to face the chaos that's swirling around you all through 2020. January is the perfect time for you to get some practice in for it.

The beginning of the month is a good period for a little rest and reflection before facing what the year is going to throw at you. Most likely you'll be recovering from New Year's anyway, so that shouldn't be too disruptive to your plans. But rather than just lounging on the couch during that first week in January, you need to do a little bit of planning. Specifically, you need to figure out what's the one big thing you want to change first in your life this year? There may be a number of things, but you need to narrow it down to one to start with. This could be in any area, on any scale. A bit of quiet time pondering is perfect for this. Get yourself walking around the block and ponder.

No matter what the state of your job is currently, look to the middle of the month to be a time of putting your nose to the grindstone. This is not to suggest that you should be lazy leading up to that time, but there's going to be a good reason to stay busy at work around the 14th or so. If there isn't a work project assigned to you that warrants this, come up with a project on your own. This is when you need to demonstrate that you're an able employee who is up to tackle any task thrown at them. That also means that the work you do this month needs to be especially visible to those who matter.

That bitter cold isn't going to do wonders for your love life, or any socializing in general. Even if you're living in a temperate climate, people are going to be laying low around you. It's going to be like pulling teeth trying to get anyone to come out and hang with you. Don't take it personally, Aquarius. People are dealing with their own burdens and might not have the extra energy. Instead, use this as a good excuse to start doing more out in the world on your own. Don't wait for other people to join you or call you up. January is when - if you want to go to a movie - you're just going to go by yourself. Thinking about a short weekend trip somewhere? Don't wait for a companion to appear. Pack yourself up and head out. This is all part of that staying calm in the face of chaos business we mentioned earlier. Sometimes chaos takes the form of people being too wrapped up in their own problems to have time for you. So staying calm in this case means making do and taking care of yourself.

That "doing things by yourself" thing is going to serve you well by the 20th or so. You may find that you're starting to enjoy it even more than doing things with others. You might not want to go quite that far, but there's an important dimension to this. You might find that you really enjoy your own company, maybe in a way you haven't noticed before. This is a very good bit of recognition on your part, Aquarius. It means you're not only being good to yourself, but you're becoming that much more perceptive about how you move through the world. This is a good skill to build up for the coming year.

Things are going to continue to get crazy in the world all month, building up through the last week of January and beyond. You should take little notice of it, Aquarius, and keep your eyes on your northern star. Pilot your ship, steady as she goes. Trust that your being calm isn't a delusion or ignoring problems around you. It is, in fact, the recognition that any storm will pass and that smooth sailing lies beyond.
