The two candidates vying for president have so diminished the American political culture that many wonder if the country can survive as we know it. Has the clock run out on our ‘240 year’ day?
Astrology is pointing to the planet Pluto as the protagonist of this tragicomedy and it’s the key to understanding the larger trend. How to understand this monster malefic? Pluto is a scary and powerful destroyer, the Lord of the Underworld and the hand of decimation. One excellent way to understand the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) is to explore the moment they were discovered and parse out the synchronicity. Pluto was discovered in 1930. Enough said.
The United States is not only a Cancer country, it has a Cancer stelluim, (four planets in a sign, in this case, Jupiter, the Sun, Venus and Mercury) and on election day Pluto will be sitting directly across from Cancer, at 15 degrees Capricorn with his guns loaded, square (90 degrees) to Jupiter in Libra and Uranus in Aries. This configuration is called a cardinal T-Square- an extended bow with its arrow aimed at the heart of the United States. The cardinal signs are the signs that begin the seasons, Aries the spring, Cancer the summer, Libra the fall, and Capricorn the winter. These are the signs of impulse and beginning.
The United States is a very Cancerian country. Generous, but quick to become defensive, sometimes a bit overwhelming and with a tendency to want to ‘mother’ the world. Cancer begins the summer, it’s a hopeful, generally optimistic sign, ruled by the Moon. Opposing it is Capricorn, the beginning of Winter and much more practical than Cancer as it sees life as a struggle to survive winter. Hard lessons and discipline are it’s keys and it’s ruled by the malefic Saturn.
The last time Pluto was in Capricorn we were graced with the American Revolution and this time around Pluto announced his return to the cardinal sign of Capricorn in 2008 with the financial crisis. Pluto, a planet that incites obsession, war and death (some see it as a higher octave of Mars) has certainly thrown the United States into a period of social chaos and decadence unimaginable just a little more the fifty years ago. If one needs evidence, compare the language of John Kennedy to the inarticulate vulgarity that has been spewed on the American public since the beginning of the primaries.
If one looks at the supporters of Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, what one will find is a visceral dislike of the opposing candidate. This election is about who is hated more- any reasonable person can understand how these two lying megalomaniacs incite such epic levels of collective nausea. Who can honestly argue with anyone who detests Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump? There will be NO winner this election day, only hundreds of millions of losers.
In the year 2022, Pluto will reach the point it was in 1776 when the US was founded and there is a good chance that there will be little left to recognize about the nation once it arrives. The national identity is collapsing and people are looking for shelter in racial, gender, ethnic and sexual identity because the national culture is dissolving into cesspool of lies, pseudo ideologies and imperial hubris.
While it seems difficult to imagine at this point, astrologically speaking, Donald Trump has a real chance to become president. His destiny (North Node) is placed directly between his Sun and Uranus in the 11th house, the house of politics and social organizations, the house of ‘Bona Fortuna’, or good luck. This wild crusade of his to bask in the ultimate spotlight of the world stage could actually come to fruition. In 2017 things could become dodgier though, as Mars will oppose his natal Sun and Mars.
Pluto opposing the US stellium in Cancer wants to annihilate all that is weak and vulnerable in America and a Trump presidency will create the needed chaos to do just that. By the time he leaves office, there won’t be much credibility left in the mainstream media or our political culture and racial and ethnic tensions will have surely boiled over. Pluto will achieve its ends with either Trump or Clinton, though things might degenerate faster if Trump is elected because the chaos will be greater.
The good news is that once this cleansing is over, the underlying conflicts that have been lingering in the American consciousness will finally have been exorcised and the country can enter a new phase, more mature and cleansed of its demons.
