Upcoming 2020 year will be the year of the White Metal Rat. But why is it that the Rat is associated in our culture with being conniving and untrustworthy? That's really unfortunate, especially since those born under this sign are quick-witted and smart. They're also charming and persuasive, and those powers in the wrong hands could be used for evil and nefarious ends, but for you, Rat, they're used entirely for good. You are able to convince anyone to do anything, and thankfully you steer them towards worthwhile and positive aims. This coming year is the time in which you need to do a lot more of that, maybe even steering them a bit towards your own ends. Don't worry: you're not going to become an evil hypnotist. But you are going to a master salesman, showing everyone what they're missing out on while peddling your wares of health, happiness, and prosperity.
In the first week of January 2020, Rat, you need to sit down and make a list of the things you wish the people in your life would do. It's okay if this list is full of very selfish and self-centered things. In fact, even better if it is. Write those things down, even if they don't seem important. Put it away until the second week in January. Then pull it out and read through it. Figure out what the top ten things are that you would LOVE for people to do for you. Then comes the tricky part: you need to make plans to contact those people and ask them to do those things for you. No, you're not calling them up and barking orders. But you are making reasonable adult requests, clearly and directly. That hasn't always been easy for you. It could just be that there are friends you wish you hung out with more regularly. Call them up and set a time. Or there's a loved one who is driving you crazy with one particular behavior. You guessed it: you need to sit them down and let them know. It's not the easiest work to do, but it will pay off for you considerably.
March 2020 is the beginning of a potentially very financially lucrative time for the Rat. This doesn't mean gold will rain down from the sky on you, but opportunities will be near you as long as you keep your eyes for them. Don't be afraid of these gifts, whatever form they may take. What do we mean by this? It means they may not take the form of cash or a check magically showing up in your hands. A friend may have an investment opportunity that enables you to get in on the ground floor of something amazing. Or an educational experience presents itself that's going raise your earning power. The point is: it's easy to miss financial opportunities that are about future income if you're just looking for cash in hand. Keep your eyes and (especially) your mind open to these gifts when they appear near you. Don't go hog wild and put all your cash into some speculative prospect. But open yourself up a little bit to just a small amount of risk. At the very least, you'll learn a ton from the experience.
The ability to persuade others may sound like manipulation, but it can also mean arguing a point of view effectively. This is going to prove to be a very useful skill to have in the workplace, especially in April 2020. You will be in a position to present an argument in order to advance in your role, or at least to move into a more interesting project. If you're currently looking for work (or looking to move on from your current position), this will take the form of an interview or something similar. You might be meeting with people in casual settings who are considering employing you. The important thing for you is: have your case ready. You're a natural litigator, but that doesn't mean you can skimp on preparation. Early April is a good time to list your strengths and weaknesses as honestly as you can. Then, like a good lawyer, you're going to figure out how to describe those weaknesses as hidden strengths. And of course, try to bolster those areas in which you're weak. This could be a pivotal time on the job front for you but do your homework. Your overall goal is to be as strong as you possibly can be.
Look to the summertime to be a period of great potential wealth coming your way. The trick, though, is that you need to position yourself in exactly the right place to receive it. That could mean standing outside, looking up, bag in hand waiting for it to rain gold coins. A more likely scenario is that you'll need to place yourself close to where people are making money. This might mean your local investors club, or perhaps a Meetup for startup businesses in the area. The crucial detail is in surrounding yourself with people who are working to make more money. This isn't something you can do on your own. Over the course of the summer, you should make it an active priority to get networking, all with an eye towards making more money. Of course, there's nothing wrong with meeting people for the sake of meeting people and expanding your social circle. But the most fruitful connections - both financially and socially - are going to come from being around people looking to do better financially. Avoid the get rich quick crowd. You're looking for people who are ready to do some serious work. And if they could use your help, by all means: say yes. Even if you don't have a million-dollar idea yourself, the help you give people will never go unnoticed. And you'll make some friends along the way.
The autumn 2020 sees you making great strides in the world. Perhaps it's the effort earlier in the year bearing fruit, or maybe it's just that the planets have aligned in such a way as to clear a path and remove any obstacles. No mind. What matters in early September is that this is the perfect time to bring to light any personal plan you've been wanting to enact. Has there been a side business you've been considering starting in your garage? Have you wanted to get an important proposal on your local voting ballot? Is it finally time for that art gallery in that vacant downtown space? Or if these sound too big and complicated, what if there's a room in your house you've been wanting to paint for ages? If ever there was a time in 2020 to begin one of these projects - no matter what its scale - September is it. Make the time and clear your calendar. It's okay if it doesn't get finished within the month, but make sure you lay the groundwork for you to continue with it in the months to come. Register the name, look for the real estate, or just pick out the colors. What's important is that you give the project enough of you to make it important to you. If you're really not sure what that project would be, help one of those friends you just made.
December 2020 is when your powers of persuasion will be most needed. The people around you will be unsure of what direction to take and might be headed down several wrong paths. You don't necessarily have all the right answers, Rat, but you do have the power to stop someone when you see them heading right towards trouble. Don't be afraid to speak up in December. These could be serious things, like a loved one battling addiction or mental illness. But don't ignore the smaller pitfalls people fall into. If you know someone throwing money away on junk food, gently guide them to healthier and cheaper options. If someone has been dating the wrong type of person for a while, show them the benefits of someone better for them. You don't have to be pushy or holier than thou, but you've got this magical power to convince people of something without their realizing it's happening. Closeout the year by using that power for good.
It's a shame the world sees rats as devious miscreants, dirty and scurrying. We know better than that, Rat. You are a survivor, making your way in the world by your wits and cunning. This doesn't mean you're self-centered and callous. It does mean that you're independent and sharp, and these are good qualities to have in the world today. Use your powers for good as you have all your life. Similarly, it's a shame we see lawyers as evil manipulators. Law is a profession requiring a keen, analytical mind. And you, dear Rat, are in a way the lawyers of the cosmos: able to persuade the stars to do your bidding as you try to make your way in the world and protect your loved ones. Nothing wrong with that. You're a good person, Rat. It's time for you to believe it.
